The Venetian Resort History
The Venetian Resort: where art and history combine with luxury and excitement.
Completed in 1999, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas was envisioned as a tribute to the famed city of Venice, Italy, the location of the honeymoon of Mr. Sheldon and Dr. Miriam Adelson. To recreate the city’s landmarks and charm, artists, architects, and experts conducted extensive research in Venice. To ensure every last detail of The Venetian Resort was faithful to the original.
To achieve that goal, authentic materials were imported and artisans commissioned to bring Venice to Las Vegas. Verde St. Denis, a green stone found in the Italian Alps is used throughout the resort. The 25-foot-high columns in the main colonnade are solid Botticino marble. The frescoes that adorn the ceilings were hand painted by Italian artists. The three-dimensional pattern on the floor in the colonnade was hand fitted with Italian marble. This was to perfectly replicate the floor of the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario.
This attention to detail has made The Venetian Resort a remarkable work of art and architecture. We invite you to explore the treasures of The Venetian Resort. Marvel at our homage to one of the world’s unique and great cities.
